The Legislative Affairs Committee serves as RSG’s external advocacy committee. Working at the local, state and federal levels, the committee is responsible for gauging and responding to student priorities on diverse issues from housing policy in Ann Arbor to the taxability of fellowships in Washington, DC. RSG Advocacy on Capital Hill – Late March / Early April
RSG will send a student delegation to Capitol Hill to advocate on behalf of graduate student interests. RSG works closely with Student Advocates for Graduate Education, a national organization representing over 140,000 graduate students from R1 Universities.
RSG Best Practices at Fall Summit – October/ November
RSG will send a student delegation to an R1 University to discuss best practices with other universities in the Student Advocates for Graduate Education. These discussions include how to interface with academic leaders, navigate the board of regents, graduate student instructor issues, union membership rights & issues, and many more!
